Mindy was a nationally known and highly regarded trainer, clinician and United States Equestrian Federation Registered Judge who was recognized for tireless devotion to the sport, including: four-time winner of OHJA's Trainer of the Year; three-time recipient of the National Pony Finals/Edna Lytle Volunteer of the Year; USHJA Volunteer of the Year; and AHJA Sportsmanship Award winner. A leader in governance at the national, affiliate and zone levels, Mindy held USHJA and USEF leadership posts, including: USHJA Board of Directors; Zone 5 chair; Pony Hunter Task Force chair.; Hunter Zone Council; Officials Committee; Special Projects Committee co-founder: and USEF National Hunter Committee chair. Mindy dedicated her life to the sport as a child rider and competitor, college competitor, coach of Ball State University's national championship equestrian team, professional trainer and owner of Lochmoor Stables. 

In Loving Memory

Mindy Darst (1960-2014) established Lochmoor Stables in 1992. For 22 years, until her death in 2014, Mindy trained Lochmoor riders to top national and local rankings. The Chronicle of the Horse wrote that Mindy had "a remarkable knack for connecting young people coupled with skill as a horseman."

In the News

Lochmoor Stables is a 56-stall boarding and training facility located five minutes from I-71 in Lebanon, Ohio. Since opening in 1990, we have provided riders throughout the U.S., Canada and Western Europe with professional training, horses and ponies for sale and lease, full-care boarding and horse showing.

Our professional staff teaches horsemanship, showmanship and horse management and care to children and adults interested in a quality learning experience.
