Lochmoor offers riders every opportunity to enhance, advance and develop their horsemanship skills. Our professional and nationally-recognized trainers provide unparalleled year-round instruction. In addition, we host world-class clinicians from across the U.S. and outside our borders. We believe strongly in the value-added opportunities our clinics provide not only our riders, but others who travel to Lochmoor Stables from across the region for the chance to train with the best-of-the-best.
Lochmoor's show year starts in December with our Happy Holidays Horse Show, featuring everyone's favorite Caroling Over Fences. The winter months at Lochmoor bring our annual Snowflake Series, held over three weekends in January, February and March. The Spooky Halloween Horse Show in October includes our popular costume contest for riders and their mounts, apple-bobbing, bareback ride-a-buck, egg-and-spoon competition at the walk, trot and canter and other spirited contests and games. It's also at the Spooky Halloween Horse Show that we bestow our coveted Dare Me Little Willy award on the short stirrup champion.
Champion and Reserve Champion are awarded in all Walk Trot, Crossrails, Hunter and Jumper divisions with three or more entries. All fence heights are in accordance with OHJA rules by division and age group.
Lochmoor takes riders to 20-25 shows each year, including local and nationally rated shows. Lochmoor riders, ponies and horses have opportunities to travel near and far for competition -- from nearby Roberts Arena in Wilmington, OH and shows in neighboring Kentucky to shows in Florida, Missouri, Tennessee, Pennsylvania, Maryland and elsewhere. Lochmoor riders have brought home Champion and Reserve Champion titles from countless Ohio and Kentucky shows and from national shows such as the Capital Challenge Horse Show, Pennsylvania National Horse Show, Washington International Horse Show, National Pony Finals, Winter Equestrian Festival, Hampton Classic, Devon Horse Show and others.
